Nem todas as grandes premiações são ruins. Algumas, de fato, são só meio-ruins. Aconteceu nesse último domingo (19/out), a vigésima segunda edição do Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards, (ARIA Music Awards), as maior premiação musical da Austrália. Para surpresa geral, a principal vencedora da noite foi uma cantora pop bem ruim. Mas a dupla The Presets foram os artistas mais bem premiados depois de Gabriella Cilmi.

Com quatro indicações, a dupla de synth-punk levou três troféus para casa: Melhor Grupo, Álbum do Ano e Melhor Lançamento Dance (derrotando Cut Copy e PNAU); eles perderam o Single do Ano com "My People" para "Sweet About Me" da tal cantora teen Gabriella Cilmi, que também ganhou como Álbum Revelação (concorrendo contra Midnight Juggernauts), Single Mais Vendido, Melhor Álbum Pop e Melhor Artista Feminina (nessas duas últimas ela venceu até Kylie Minogue).

A banda foi ainda indicada quatro vezes ao Fine Arts Awards - premiação do ARIA que cuida da parte técnica dos lançamentos - e ganhou outros três troféus: Produtores do Ano para Julian Hamilton e Kim Moyes (Presets), Melhor Arte do Álbum (Jonathan Zawada) e Melhor Vídeo com "My People" (Kris Moyes); eles perderam o prêmio de Engenheiro do Ano.
